So yeah, back to work na nga ako kanina. It’s my first day as a trainee Nurse sa isang hospital/home for the aged-ish somewhere in Marikina. Srsly, ‘twas a boring and sleepy first day. Here are the highlights in bullets:

  • Woke up at around 4:45am. — 2 hrs of sleep, beat that. I slept at around 2:30am because of someone. I was about to sleep, kaya lang bigla siyang tumawag, so no choice.
  • After bed rituals.
  • Fixed myself.
  • Ate my breakfast. — hotdogs and eggs.
  • Took a bath.
  • After bath rituals.
  • Then off to Camillus MedHaven in Marikina.
  • Camillus MedHaven by 8:45am. — Weird guard is weird. ‘Sino po sila?’ Nasa isip ko, ‘Kuya, this is the 3rd time na pumunta ako, hindi mo pa rin ako kilala?’
  • Then sabi niya, ‘Ay, oo nga pala po Sir.’ In my mind, I was like, ‘Duh Kuya?’
  • Then she gave me an endorsement letter na ibibigay ko kay Ma’am Nida or Ma’am Edna for the orientation.
  • Srsly, sobrang laki nung hospital/home for the aged-ish place na ‘yon.
  • Saw this girl at the front desk, ‘Hi Ma’am, good morning. I’m Rain. Kayo po ba si Ma’am Nida? Ako po ‘yong bagong trainee.’ Then she said, yes.
  • Then nag-tour kami sa buong MedHaven na ‘yon. Super laki pala talaga nung lugar na ‘yon. So, building by building kami and tiniis ko ‘yong sikat ng araw para lang walang masabi sa’kin si Ma’am
  • The fun part is, bawat patient ay may private Caregiver aside from the Staff Nurse. — The private Caregivers are very courteous and accommodating. ‘Hi Sir, good morning.’ ‘Hi Nurse Rain, good morning.’ (Kinikilig ako sa NURSE RAIN :3)
  • Then, ‘nung pagpasok namin sa isang room, we saw Nurse Grace. I greeted her, said ‘Good morning.’ Ma’am Nida, introduced us to each other. Then she greeted back and gave me a bitchy smirk. Then she said, ‘Ma’am, Sir, sige po. (walks out)’ Pagdaan niya sa side ko, I whispered to myself, ‘Humanda ka sa’kin.(In a kontrabida tone)’
  • Then after the tour, Ma’am Nida said na pwede na akong mag-stay sa Nurses’ station sa 2nd floor. Unfortunately, I’m with Nurse Grace
Aralin mo na.’, Ma’am Nida said.
  • To make the long story short, nagbasa at nag-familiarize lang ako ng charts nila, meds, etc the whole day. I also ‘tour-ed’ myself again para ma-orient pa ako ng lubusan sa place.
  • There is this one question on my mind: ‘WHERE ARE THE CHAIRS?’ Yes, I was reading the chart and standing at the same time for the whole time.
  • Okay. So sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘This shit has to end.’
  • OMG This is the funny part. Since the place is gloomy and dark, I slept for about, I think, 15 mins while reading the charts.
  • Forever alone, right?
  • The clock struck 12. Everyone was ‘Kain na tayo, tara na.’ Pero bakit walang nag-aaya sa’kin?
  • Fine. So I invited myself to eat, went to the grand mess hall. Yes, kumain ako mag-isa and everyone was staring at me. Loser much?
Oh, Nurse Grace asked me, ‘Kumain ka na?’ I said, ‘Yes, Ma’am.’ Tapos I whispered to myself, ‘Marunong ka palang magsalita.’
  • So ganun ulit ang ginawa ko. Chart reading and all. It was so boring, srsly. So I called some of my friends. Nagsumbong ako na inaapi ako. Well, not really. Gusto ko lang ng may makausap.
  • 1pm. Ma’am Nida visited me. Then I said, ‘Thank you po, Ma’am.’ Here I am again, whispering to myself, ‘Kanina pa ako walang ginagawa, sana kanina niyo pa ‘yan sinabi.’
  • 1:30pm. I finally decided to go home. Bid farewell to this Nurse Grace and went to Ma’am Nida’s office para mag-goodbye. Then she said, ‘Sir, pwede kang mag-halfday na lang since Jan 16 pa naman talaga ang start mo.’
  • I was like, SERIOUSLY?! Then I said, ‘Thank you, Ma’am. See you tomorrow.’
  • OMG Paglabas ko ‘nung office, then ‘nung building, lumuwag ‘yong paghinga ko.
  • And since it’s 1:30pm palang naman, I decided to go to a friend’s party. It’s a swimming party to be exact in this exclusive subdivision in Quezon City. — Pero swimming party is a NO NO for me.
  • So yeah. Rode a tricycle, then a jeepney and then an FX
  • Okay. Friend’s party. Eat. Had fun.
  • 2nd day tomorrow. OH NOES~
  • Good luck to me.
  • Oh well.
